If you don’t know me already my name is Lacy and I am the spa manager here at Birch Botanical Spa. I am a licensed esthetician, energy practitioner, and Usui Tibetan Reiki I and II certified practitioner. I also work closely alongside Jayme Hanna to create all of the amazing products in our Apothecary!
I have found so much joy and passion in product making and development. I am so lucky to have Jayme as a mentor and so grateful that she trusts me to bring her recipes to life and develop new ones for our line. Working in the apothecary has become something of a ritual for me. There is something so special about seeing all of the ingredients come together and something even more magical about seeing people use them and get amazing results!
I have learned so much about the healing power of herbs and other ingredients that come straight from our mother earth. We are always looking for new products to add to our line for use at home and in the treatment room. I am currently working on a traditional Ayurvedic bath powder called Ubtan. We use this in a few of our services like the Tibetan Energy Alignment, Divine Rejuvenation Facial and the Soul to Heal Foot Treatment. This herbal bath powder has been around for centuries, originating in India and combines a variety of herbal powders to cleanse the skin. It is used to soak up unwanted oils, soothe inflammation, reduce pigmentation and leave the skin feeling buttery smooth and moisturized.
The possibilities are truly endless of what ingredients can be used in Ubtan so it has been a bit of a process to perfect. The base is always besan or chickpea powder which controls access oil while still keeping the skin moisturized, helps to lighten and brighten the skin and can even be used to combat acne. Other ingredients like turmeric, sandalwood and rose powder are added to help exfoliate, even skin tone and improve skin elasticity. You can also add the powder to milk or oil for added hydration.
I have been working on this product for a few months now and I can’t wait to be able to put it on our shelves and share it with you all! I want to make sure that it is absolutely perfect before launching it so for now you will just have to book a service to feel the wonderful benefits of this herbal bath powder but don’t worry, soon enough it will be available for purchase and you will be able to add it to your apothecary collection.
