What is elderberry syrup?
Elderberries are from the Sambucus tree that’s native to Europe.
Elderberry syrup is made from these berries.
Used commonly to fight off flu, the common cold, and other respiratory infections.
Elderberries have been used throughout time for shortening a cold and influenza, as well as preventing an upper respiratory infection. Many studies and clinical trials have proven this plant’s medicinal properties to speed up recovery of colds and flus. Some herbalists have used this to shorten or reduce a herpes breakout.
Elderberries are rich in vitamins A & C. They are naturally anti-inflammatory because they are rich in flavonoids. Some herbalists consume elderberries as a preventative measure to ward off colds and flu. Enjoy this seasonal herb in everyday foods like jams, syrups and wine!
Elderberry Syrup Kit directions: First put the entire packet of dried herbs (1/2 c elderberries, 1 tsp dried ginger or 1 TBS fresh ginger, 5 cloves and 1 cinnamon stick) into a small saucepan with 2 cups of water. Cover and bring to a boil. Turn down heat and simmer for 20-30 mins or until the liquid is reduced by half. Then strain and add 1 cup of honey and stir. Store in a sealed jar in fridge for up to a couple of weeks or freeze into ice cube trays. Suggested usage for adults is 1 T up to 3x/day and children 1 t up to 3x/day. (note: children under 1 should avoid honey)
